Five Must Ask Questions When You Decide To Live Your Life's Purpose

Life Purpose is one of those things that once discovered, we have this big 'A-HA' moment. As a result, we are so glad that we have made it to this particular point in our life that we cannot imagine doing anything else with our lives.

However, for others, Life Purpose is this almost abstract notion of what one would do if they had the time and other resources. But, there is another group of people who truly want to live the life they were meant to live! And, they are my favorite group of people because they know that there is more to life than what they see, hear, feel, taste, and smell and they want to be part of that! Hence, they begin their journey of living their life's purpose!

The term 'Life's Purpose' is a broad term and has a bit of mystique to it. So, it's no wonder that we ask certain questions like:
  • What is a life's purpose?
  • What is my life's purpose?
  • How can I live/fulfill/do my life's purpose?
  • How does it play into my spiritual path?

There are loads of people who are discovering their life's purpose every moment of every day. If you need proof, then just look at all of the spiritual Facebook groups and pages that are available to join or like.

Living one's life purpose is an on going thing and to think otherwise is just to set ourselves up for failure, which is why I developed five questions to ask yourselves when you decide to live your life's purpose. I had to ask myself the same questions, not to mention remind myself of the questions from time to time!

So, let's get to it!

Am I willing to accept the good, the bad, and the ugly?

The Good:
I will tell you 'the good' aka the successful parts (such as taking that leap of faith, having a support group/followers, earning money) will come in increments for a while and then it will be a steady flow.

Why? Well, because you're practically starting from scratch and you have to build your way up to becoming that 'go to' person in your field otherwise known as the expert. Having a strong base of followers and so forth will take time and you will definitely become upset with your progress if you do not realize this early on when you are perusing your life's purpose.

The Bad:
(non)Constructive Criticism, nay sayers, and the ego are, unfortunately, things that 'come with the territory' when we choose to step out of the mold and become trailblazers.

Why? Well, because some people just don't have good intentions for various reasons. So, in stead of looking internally as to what's wrong with them, they will give you their nonconstructive criticism as a way to keep you from excelling. In regards to the nay sayers, they can be people who just don't understand your logic and not necessarily have bad intentions. So, in stead of trying to learn more about you, they just shut down and don't want to entertain the thought of anything you have to offer.  Last, but not least, your ego! Your ego will take a beating throughout the process of living your life's purpose and that's okay! We want to address any 'concern' the ego sends our way and dismiss it with positive thoughts!

The Ugly:
The jealous people who were once your friends. Am I prepared to let go of the old, which include people who were once my friends (maybe even close friends)?

Why? To put it plainly, some people do not mature. In other cases, some people aren't ready for change.  You, however, realize that change is something that must take place in order for you to live your life's purpose, which means leaving the old friends and making new friends.

Am I comfortable with being 'discovered' and becoming the 'subject matter expert'?

Why? Eventually, you are going to become darn good at what you do. People will recognize you and want you to do speaking engagements, guest blogs, and so forth. You will have to be comfortable being 'that gal' or 'that guy'. You don't want to be the Jack of All Trades and Master of nothing.  This is your time to shine and you don't want to limit yourself. You've work too hard!

Am I prepared to leave what no longer adds value in my life?

Why? When you discover your life's purpose, you have reached the point where you have outgrown many things, including your day job, old habits, and so forth. You may even outgrown the area in which you live and decide that it's time to move and start fresh! The point is you will be adding (more) value in your life when you make the choice to phase yourself out from one situation into something even better...your life's purpose.

Am I willing to do whatever it takes?

Why? I would be lying if I said starting a company was fairly easy. It just takes time and patience! Here's the 'low down'. You will invest time, money, and other resources to fulfill your life's purpose. You will loose sleep and possibly weight (some may gain it depending on how you react to stress and so forth). You will experience a lot of emotions. You will feel as if Spirit is testing you. You will wonder if you were meant to do (fill in the blank) as your life's purpose.  You will have to want to succeed, which includes going that extra mile (all ethical means of course).

(The most important question) Do I believe in myself?

Why? If you do not believe in yourself, then two things will happen-no one else will either and you will not succeed. The only exception to that rule would be that Spirit, your parents, and your significant other believe in you. Because they want you to succeed. But, again, you have to want it. You have to believe in yourself. You are meant to do great things in this world. It's no mistake that you had a vision or an idea to do/create something great!

Challenge Time!

  1. One of my questions is am I moving in the right direction? I feel like I need to be going in a certain direction, but I have doubts about whether or not it's the right thing for me to be doing.

    1. Hello, Renee! Thanks for posting! When you feel doubtful, take one aspect of the certain direction you feel like you should be going and create a story. Play out the whole scenario from beginning to end. So, say you are thinking about going back to school but are unsure of the major...just figure out how it would workout with one major and then the other. Think about how that feels and don't forget to ask Spirit for signs!!
